Running a firewall that supported IPv6 was the driving force in getting me started with FreeBSD.  What a worthwhile adventure it has been, and continues to be!

The link to the left labeled IPFW goes to a page that lists some of the things that I learned while building my first firewall.  I hope that you find it useful.

The second link, IPFW2, is for the new IPFW2-based firewall that I just built a few minutes ago.  It is on a test machine right now, but if everything continues to go well, I will move it into production.  Check out that page for more information, including (more detailed) instructions on how to build the new IPFW2 code.
